Position Summary or Faculty Qualifications

The Executive Director of Academic Programs is a faculty appointment with administrative responsibilities. The Executive Director, in addition to the responsibilities outlined below, will also hold a tenurable teaching appointment in an appropriate academic department based on the incumbent’s scholarship. The incumbent will be responsible for adding value to the university by connecting the mission and work of the Kinney Center to curricular and research enterprises elsewhere in the University.

This position reports to the Dean.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Kinney Center executive director and professional staff, SJU academic departments, and individual faculty members to assure the continued integrity and excellence of existing academic endeavors at the Kinney Center. This includes, but is not limited to: internships and practicum experiences, the Kinney apprentice program, faculty research/scholarship, graduate student assistantships, the ASPIRE program, the SCHOLARS program, undergraduate and graduate student recruiting and retention.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to grow new academic endeavors (both curricular and scholarly/research) at the Kinney Center.
• Promote and assist in the development of academic programs and individual courses across the institution that have synergies with the Kinney Center mission and programs.
• Facilitate and evaluate the work of the Kinney Center Faculty Affiliates.
• Coordinate strategically and tactically with Kinney Center Executive Director of Programming through weekly meetings.
• Participate actively in monthly Kinney Center all-staff meetings and as a member of the Kinney Center Advisory Board
• Expectations for this position include scholarly productivity, service to the university, college, and department, as well as demonstrating teaching effectiveness. The teaching requirement for this position includes teaching one course per semester on related topic as assigned.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Represent the University, as needed, in local, national, and international activities involving the Kinney Institute and the study or Autism
• Participate in the activities of his/her home department as determined at the time of the appointment in consultation with the Chairperson of the department, the Dean and the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Minimum Requirements:

• Terminal degree in a related field
• A body of peer-reviewed research in the field of autism
• Evidence of effective university-level teaching
• Demonstrated experience in an administrative capacity at a college or university
• Must be eligible for tenure
• Understanding and commitment to the mission of Saint Joseph’s University and the Kinney Center for Autism Education & Support
