Position Summary or Faculty Qualifications

Saint Josephs University’s Organization Development and Leadership Department has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of graduate and undergraduate online and campus based courses each semester. Research based knowledge and work experience in at least one of the following areas will be given preference: organization development, research and evaluation, talent development, e-learning, group dynamics, leadership development, executive coaching, organizational psychology, process consulting, adult learning and training.

Adjunct faculty are expected to teach to the designated syllabus, provide support and guidance to students; facilitate on-line or campus based courses and respond to student needs in a timely fashion; develop strategies to teach the course for the entire semester or session, use the course syllabus, objectives, and curriculum; meet the university’s academic standards; organize and prepare course materials for facilitation; utilize educational technology to engage students and enhance learning; connect students’ current study to real-world applications; demonstrate consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of assignments; provide timely feedback to students; maintain students’ grade book and complete final grades by the deadline.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Teaching to the designated syllabus.
-Providing support and guidance to students.
-Facilitating campus based or on-line courses and responding to student needs in a timely fashion.
-Developing strategies to teach the course for the entire semester or session, using the SJU syllabus provided, objectives, and curriculum.
- Meeting the university’s academic standards.
- Organizing and preparing course materials for facilitation.
- Utilizing experiential learning, action learning, and educational technology to engage students and enhance learning.
- Connecting students’ current study to real-world applications.
- Demonstrating consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of assignments, and providing timely feedback to students.
- Utilize rubrics for grading where relevant.
- Maintaining students’ grade book, and completing final grades by the deadline.
- Meeting by phone or in person with Director or/and Faculty Team each semester.

Secondary Responsibilities:
Minimum Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Training and Development, Organization Development, Business, Organizational Behavior or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. or Ed.D. in related fields, previous teaching experience, and familiarity with online learning and experiential learning methods.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:

Online courses require ongoing access to computer and the internet. Requires long periods of time, communicating by computer and reading a computer screen.
